“A relatively simple arrangement serves the foundation for elevating the emotionality of “Come On Violet.” Primarily supported by an acoustic guitar nestled away in the recesses of the track, Mons Vi’s vocals, as beautiful and delicate as a butterfly’s wings, holds the listener spellbound with heart-rending lyrics akin to poetry. .”

Mons Vi is the musical alias of multi-talented artist Matthew Hershoff, who is also known for his screenwriting work on the award-winning HBO short film La Piel de Ayer.

After moving from Miami to New York City to study writing at Columbia University, Matthew released his first song under the moniker, Mons Vi, in late 2015. A slew of critically-acclaimed singles and a compilation mixtape followed, and the pairing of simple, pop-influenced songwriting with deeply emotional lyricism informed by his early-in-life experiences with loss quickly came to mark the artistic style of Mons Vi. Since then, he has amassed over 3 million streams, and a loyal fan base who are active both online and at his live shows. His music has been reviewed positively on several blogs including Ones To Watch, the Deli Mag, and Brooklyn Vegan.
