March saw another fantastic month for music as we poignantly entered the season of rejuvenation. Here are my Top 10 tracks of March:
Soccer Mommy – Shotgun
Singer-songwriter Soccer Mommy AKA Sophie Allison is back with “Shotgun”, the first glimpse of her highly anticipated upcoming third album “Sometimes, Forever”. The 90s alt-rock vibe explores the highs and lows of losing yourself in love, with a chorus sure to be in your head all day.
Nova Twins – Cleopatra
Nova Twin’s latest track, “Cleopatra”, sees the London duo display their signature mixture of rock, punk, and grime in a forceful number about being unashamed of self-identity.
beabadoobee – Talk
beabadoobee is back with a bang with her new single, “Talk”, a maturer sound filled with throwback guitar riffs (think Sum 41 or Blink 182), in which beabadoobee encourages listeners to channel their rebellious side.
Fontaines D.C. – Skinty Fia
Another month, another Fontaines D.C. song featured in the list of the top tracks, and rightly so with the menacing and brooding “Skinty Fia”. The thunderous song sees frontman Grian Chatten grapple with the reduction and turmoil of Irish culture overseas. “Skinty Fia” will appear on the Irish post-punk band’s forthcoming album of the same name.
Everything Everything – I Want A Love Like This
Art-rock veterans Everything Everything’s new disco-pop single “I Want A Love Like This” is one to remember. Accompanied by leadman’s Jonathan Higgs exquisite falsetto vocals, the band’s innate sophistication works beautifully with the melodic directness of a song about new relationships and the feeling of optimism and possibility that comes with it.
Kurt Vile – Hey Like A Child
“Hey Like A Child” is quintessential Kurt Vile. With its typical ambling and meandering style, firm and entwining guitar licks, shrewd pitch bends, and effortless yet transcending vocals. The new song from his forthcoming album (“Watch My Moves”) sees Vile provide one of his most enchanting and wonderfully dazed tracks.
Joey Bada$$ – Head High
Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$ is seen in an unfamiliar vulnerable light on the heartfelt track “Head High”. He plunges into the depths of his psyche with a poignant introspective on sudden death and making the most out of life, with references to his close friends XXXTentacion and Capital Steez, all performed with Joey’s powerfully assured flow. The song is also empowered by soulful production from the legendary Statik Selektah
Cloudy June – Mommy Issues
The catchy “Mommy Issues” is the latest single from Berlin’s own Cloudy June. Cloudy June has confidence and swagger well above her years and demonstrates this in “Mommy Issues”, which is three minutes of tuneful and luscious electro-pop music.
Melody’s Echo Chamber – Personal Message
French psych-pop queen Melody Prochet is back with “Personal Message”, the latest single from her upcoming record “Emotional Eternal”.
Melody makes music for the soul, and this track is no different, with its mellow progressions, hushed French vocals, powerful bass, layered production and overall captivating psychedelic and dazed sound.
Pusha T, Nigo – Hear Me Clearly
Pusha T has teamed up with his longtime friend and collaborator Nigo on “Hear Me Clearly”, taken from Nigo’s upcoming album, ‘I Know Nigo’. Pusha T brings his signature relaxed yet vicious world-class flow to this powerful track.
Hope you enjoy the music, and check in again next month for the globe’s latest and best music!
